After 10th standard every year about 10 lakhs students enroll in the 2 year Pre-university courses PUC. The courses offered by the Karnataka Pre University Education Department PUE are broadly classified under the categories of Humanities (Arts), Science & Commerce. There are 23 subjects, 11 languages and 50 combinations in the Pre-University curriculum. In 2010-11, there were 4,43,185 students in Humanities in I & II PUC, 2,47,421 students in Science in I & II PUC & 2,77,189 students in commerce in I & II PUC .
Pre-University Course or PUC is a 2-year intermediate course intended to prepare students for university education. Successful completion of a PUC course is a pre-requisite for university education. The Course structure at Westline College is designed to provide students with a solid foundation on the subjects through theory and application of theory on experiments conducted in the laboratories, guest lectures, seminars, etc., which will prepare them for University level education.
Applicants must have a pass in Karnataka SSLC examination or any other equivalent examination recognized by the Department of Pre-University Education, Karnataka and must satisfy all other conditions set by them. Applicants must personally fill in the forms correctly and neatly. Applicants should register the same at the College office on the date mentioned on the notice board. Separate applications should be submitted if a candidate is applying for more than one Course. Application received after the last date will not be entertained. Incomplete applications or with false information of any sort will automatically be treated as invalid. Admission without the submission of Original Certificates will only be provisional.
Advantages: Students will get 2 years time to form their realistic goals about their career, where they can evaluate their strengths and weakness and form it as a base. With the new set exposure, students will realize the world around unlike their school days. PUC is comparatively easy for students who completed their 10th/SSLC. This platform forms the eligibility for many jobs. It is also beneficial for those who want to pursue engineering but have not yet decided with the specialized stream.
Science– Mostly students who score high percentage is eligible to enroll into science; hence there is an interpretation that all studious students should enroll Science. In this misconception, there are a huge number of students who shift to other streams like commerce & arts in their graduation. Students of science are expected to possess good knowledge and interest in multiple concepts, theories, formulas and experiments. Students should have a high motivation to face challenges and tough competitions, entrance exams etc. These students should have good generalized reading habit and memorization, as only that will help them in various entrance exams. Science students are generally occupied with practical, records, additional coaching classes, seminars etc. with less interval for recreational activities.
The combinations are flexible with subject combination of Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Biology, Computer Science, Electronics, Statistics, Geography or Home science.

Commerce- Students aspirant to make their career in the field of accounts, business, computer science, management etc select this option. It is comparatively easy when compared to science students. But commerce students should have a strong hold on the numerical, analytical, data, theory. Students should also have a good grasping power and application of the knowledge too. The pressure is not too much unless the students plan to write competitive exams like C.P.T to become CA or take up additional courses like I.C.W.A, company secretary ship or SAP.

5. Physically challenged and visually impaired Candidates should enclose a copy of a certificate obtained from a Registered Medical Practitioner,stating the nature of disability.
6. Non-Karnataka candidates should provide an undertaking from their parents regarding details of the local guardians. The local guardians will be responsible for all the activities of the students.
